Rabbit Boarding at Moonfleet

We enjoy boarding rabbit friends here at Moonfleet and would like to tell you about our health and safety practices.
Unfortunately we do not have the facilities to be able to board giant rabbit breeds.
DIET: We will provide fresh water and hay daily for your rabbit, alongside a supply of fresh seasonal vegetables. As rabbits can have delicate stomachs, you may wish to provide your own dried rabbit food. Alternatively, we can provide rabbit nuggets or a rabbit dried mix. There is a section on our booking form for you to tell us about your rabbits likes and dislikes!
GROOMING: If you own a long-haired rabbit we will be happy to provide a free grooming service for your pet during their stay at Moonfleet. Please let us know at the time of booking and provide your own brush.
HEALTH& SAFETY: We regularly disinfect our hutches, runs and food bowls. This enables us to prevent the spread of rabbit diseases and illnesses, as well as giving you peace of mind when boarding your rabbit with us.
VACCINATIONS: Rabbits boarding at Moonfleet must be vaccinated against Myxomatosis, RVHD1 and RVHD2 – this is usually through the Myxomatosis RHD Plus vaccine. Vaccines must be given at least 21 days before boarding and vaccination cards will be requested prior to arrival. We cannot board any rabbit that has not been vaccinated – these viruses can affect all breeds of rabbit and an outbreak of RVHD would put Moonfleet Boarding out of action for 105 days.
WORMING: We recommend that your rabbit is treated with Panacur Rabbit 1 – 4 times a year, particularly at high risk times. E.Cuniculi is a parasite that around 52% of apparently healthy domestic rabbits are thought to have been exposed to and if left untreated may have very nasty consequences; an infected rabbit may show no symptoms.
FLYSTRIKE: During warm months, flies can lay eggs on your rabbit. These eggs hatch into maggots which can eat your rabbit’s flesh and cause a life-threatening infection. Flies are attracted to moist, warm skin. They are especially likely to lay their eggs in the presence of fluids such as urine, faeces and blood. We recommend that your rabbit has been treated for flystrike prior to boarding with us.
TEXT/EMAIL UPDATES: We are happy to provide text, WhatsApp or email updates to you free of charge whilst your rabbit boards with us, enabling you further peace of mind.
